Istanbul’s contemporary art scene has flourished and grown exponentially over the past 10 years or so. November Paynter has played and continues to play a significant role in this development. She has been Curator of Platform Garanti, Assistant Curator of the 9th International Istanbul Biennial, and Consultant Curator at Tate Modern for the Global Cities exhibition in 2007. She is now Associate Director of Research at SALT one of the most substantial and progressive visual and material cultural research institutions in the world. THAT Radio had the pleasure of talking to November’s and hearing about how she first came to Istanbul, the early days at Platform Garanti and SALT’s current and future plans.
